Just talk. Your words type themselves.

Hold one key, speak naturally — in English, Hindi, or Hinglish — and your words appear in any app. Mac, Windows, or your browser. Private by default.

Free · open source · macOS, Windows & Chrome

Dictation that feels invisible

No window to switch to, no buttons to click. It works wherever your cursor is.

🎙️

Talk anywhere

Works in every app — your browser, Messages, Notes, code editors, search bars. If you can type there, you can talk there.

🌍

Multiple languages

English, Hindi, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Mandarin — and a dedicated Hinglish (Roman) mode.

🪔

Hinglish, done right

Speaks Hindi+English the way you actually type it — "kya kar rahe ho", Roman letters, no translation, no Devanagari.

🔒

On-device & private

A bundled Whisper engine runs fully offline by default — no API key, nothing leaves your device.

Best-quality mode (optional)

Add a free Groq key to switch to cloud Whisper large-v3 + AI cleanup for noticeably higher accuracy.

📝

Meeting transcription

Transcribe your mic continuously during Zoom, Meet, or Teams calls into a timestamped text file.

✂️

Phrases

Define text macros — say "my email" and it expands to your full address. Great for boilerplate.

🛡️

Tamper detection

The Mac app verifies its own code signature at launch and refuses to run if it's been modified.

🖥️

Mac, Windows & browser

A native app for macOS and Windows, plus a Chrome extension — pick whichever fits how you work.

Instant

Release the key and your text is pasted in a blink. No round-trips, no waiting.

📂

Open source

MIT-licensed and fully open on GitHub. Read the code, fork it, or contribute a fix.

🆓

Free

No subscription, no required account. Download it and start talking.

Three steps to talking

Set it up once, then forget it's even there.

1

Install

Download the app and drag it to your Applications folder.

2

Grant access

Allow Microphone, Speech Recognition, and Accessibility when asked.

3

Pick a language

Choose English, Hindi, Hinglish (Roman), or one of 8 languages from the app window.

4

Hold & talk

Hold Right ⌥ Option, speak, release. Your words appear.

Works offline out of the box. Add a free Groq key in the app for cloud-quality transcription and AI cleanup.

Prefer your browser? 🧩

Get the free Chrome extension and dictate straight into Gmail, X, ChatGPT, or any web text box — no Mac app needed. Works on Windows & Linux too.

Get the Chrome extension
Free · Chrome / Edge / Brave
🧩 How to install
  1. Unzip the download, then open chrome://extensions in Chrome.
  2. Turn on Developer mode (top-right), then click Load unpacked.
  3. Select the unzipped extension folder.
  4. Click into any text field, press ⌘⇧Y, and click Allow when Chrome asks for the mic. Speak!

Browser dictation uses the browser's built-in speech engine (cloud). For fully on-device, private dictation, use the Mac app above.

Ready to stop typing?

Download Wispr Clone and try it in the next app you open.

Download for Mac (.dmg)
Free · macOS 14+ · Apple Silicon
📋 How to install (first time)
  1. Open the downloaded Wispr-Clone.dmg and drag Wispr Clone into your Applications folder.
  2. Open Applications and double-click Wispr Clone. macOS will block it — that's expected.
  3. Go to System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click “Open Anyway” next to Wispr Clone. Confirm once.
  4. When it runs, allow Microphone, Speech Recognition, and Accessibility when asked, then relaunch.

Why the warning? This app isn't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS asks you to approve it manually. It's safe — the code is open source on GitHub.

On Windows? 🪟

Get the Windows version — same hold-and-speak dictation, in your system tray.

Download for Windows (.exe)
Free · Windows 10 / 11 · no install needed
🪟 How to use
  1. Download WisprClone.exe and double-click it.
  2. If Windows shows a blue “protected your PC” box, click More info ▸ Run anyway (it's unsigned, like the Mac app — it's safe).
  3. A 🎙️ icon appears in the system tray. Click into any text field, hold Right Ctrl, speak, release — your words get typed.

No Python or setup needed — everything is bundled in the .exe. Supports the same languages and Hinglish (Roman) mode as the Mac app — add a free Groq key in the app window for the best accuracy.
